Cleaning Tool Care and Replacement
Stick this inside a kitchen or laundry cupboard and write down the date you replace each item.
Kitchen
- Dishcloths — wash after use and dry spread out · boil or soak in oxygen bleach 1–2 times a week · replace if the smell will not go
- Sponges — rinse and stand up to dry · soak in oxygen bleach weekly · replace every 2–4 weeks
- Rubber gloves — turn inside out to dry · replace when torn or sticky
Floors and home
- Microfiber cloths — wash separately, without fabric softener · replace when stiff
- Mop pads — wash after use and dry completely
- Vacuum — empty the bin every time · cut hair off the brush · clean filters as the manual says
- Dusters — shake outside; wash occasionally with mild detergent
Bathroom
- Toilet brush — shake off water and let it dry · replace every 3–6 months
- Bath brushes and sponges — rinse and hang to dry
- Squeegee — replace when the blade bends or leaves streaks
